Hello everyone, I already read similar problem on forums, however I was not able to summarize all steps, so I am creating this new thread. After many years, my dashboard gone dead somehow, FIAT Stilo 1.6. First few deys it helpded, when I only recconected minus connector on the battery. This helpded just for few hours before it died again. So what I alredy did, I took the whole dashboard off the car, but I cannot see any damage. I checked the fuses. I would also like to check related grounding spots, but I do not know where to search, could you plese help?. Now if I connect my dashbord back, all instrument are shaking and it makes strange sound, LCD panel is blinking, not functional at all. Can this be also related to ECU? Other thing, few days ago I left car totally disconected from battery for about 10 hours yesterday, I hope that did no problems. So what do you advise, what should I check next? I already ordered a new dashboard. Everything else, other electrics works perfectly fine on the car, so I am able to drive it without dashboard. Many thanks for any help guys.

This is a common problem.

The only solutions are to replace the console, or get it repaired.

If you replace the clocks with another set, they might not last very long either.. and you will have to re-set the vehicle mileage odometer and re-align the new instruments with the Body Computer. It's not difficult to do... but you need Fiat's Diagnostics software, so a dealer or specialist will charge you to do it.

Otherwise you can repair it. If you look for Yellowstilo (a member on here) send him a PM. He can fix your instruments so you only have to re-fit them.

Yellowstilo is in Holland, so you should send your instruments by courier (I tried using the regular postal service for my clocks and they got lost)... but if your clocks aren't damaged he won't charge you for nothing.

My (second set of) clocks were repaired by him over a year ago and they're still working fine.

Hello, thanks for the answer, I have diagnostics aviable, but I do not know the procedure of reseting milage and re-aligning to body computer.. Will it work without these procedures?

Yes, a new set of instruments will work, although if you buy clocks from a diesel, the rev-counter will be wrong (the needle position won't agree with the numbers on the display).

If the mileage is incorrect on the new instruments, it will stay incorrect.. but otherwise work as normal (increases with the mileage you do). The real mileage is (I believe) also stored in the ECU so it's worth trying to match them up later, in case the next owner thinks you swindled them. :D

The mileage odometer display will *flash* until you re-align the instruments to the Body Control Module. You can live with it or use a copy of the Fiat ECUScan software which has an option to do this. You can find under a menu heading called "Instruments" (or similar). I managed to do this myself, so it wasn't veeeery complicated.. :D

Thank you, really appreciate your answer. So I gues I will see, I will also try beside this, to unmount the ECU, dry, clean, etc. This whole problem started with weather condition recently, cold, high humidity.. In summer, this problem never appeared.
