Dash Shaking at Motorway driving speed

I have a 1.4sx 98 Bravo for about 6 months and recently whenever I'm driving along the motorway and just keeping with trafic 80 ish the front dash starts shaking and if you increase speed(rarely) the steering wheel starts to shake too. I checked around the engine and all I can see that could be wrong is there is a bracket on the air filter is broken at the front. Anybody got any clues as its isnt a pleasnt experience.

I would take it to a garage and get the tracking checked as this would cause the steering wheel to shake at higher speeds.

Anybody else got any ideas.

Wheel

Hit any pot holes recently? Check your wheels are ok and get them balanced.

Got both things checked

I recently change the 2 front tyres because one had a bulge on the inside of the wheel. After that I got the tracking done too, but there seems to be a slight pull to the left hand side of the road no matter how good of a road it is.

Tracking

This definately sounds wheel related, possibly an out of balance tyre. Even if fitted recently the balance weights may have become detached or it is not unheard of for tyres to have faults from new.

Check for any sign of uneven wear and I would suggest a visit to a tyre dealer.

Re: Tracking

Thanks will get it checked out as its worring when the steering starts shaking

re-check the tracking

I had the same trouble, balanced all 4 wheels - no change. Had tracking done - no change. Had tracking re-done after garage had their tracking device calibrated - bingo.
Try another garage for your tracking - it's usually free for a tracking check, you only pay if it's out. Ask when they last had their equipment calibrated.
Good Luck
