Tuning Dangers with remap?

Tuning Dangers with remap?

Talking to a guy who does the remapping thingy and being in a car that he has done before and after yeah you get the extra power but driving normally you will get an increase in MPG. the car i was in saw an increase of 10 mpg over a regular journey yet was blisteringly fast when it wanted to be.

Looking forward to this now. :D

You won't get any near 150+bhp! The turbo and camshaft aren't big enough! The figure below is from the best italian car remapper in the Netherlands:

I have said before you may be disappointed. With these running closer (or even over in a few cases) to 130 bhp I'm not 100% you will that impressed with 10-15 bhp increase. Just don't go into this expecting 150+ BHP unless you are on a very over-compensating rolling road.

If you want the best bang for buck, fit a 150T-Jet turbo or Abarth 500 turbo, then remap :)

Exhaust, FMIC are options that would also give you more after turbo upgrade. But honestly the turbo is the biggest hold on the 120..

Well I've not looked that deep into it yet. But it's such a common mod in the T-Jet Grande Punto forums I would head over to there or google it to find out.

The blocks are the same so I don't see why the turbo fitment would be any different. You may need a 150T exhaust manifold and exhaust downpipe? But even then... it's only bolt off bolt on parts..

Would the engines ECU not need to be reprogrammed for the sensors and what not. Bare in mind you're talking to me. I adore cars and gadgets but im useless in an engine bay.

You can fit it without a remap, it will run absolutely fine and add a little bit more power but to get the most out of it you will need a custom remap.
Most people fit then get a map straight away!

Suppose that's all when and good if you're into that thing. I'm definitely just an aesthetics type of guy. I like cars that look classy. Fine modifications to give it that little but of a stand out, I could never justify paying £600 + custom map job for the sake of 40bhp Or so. It's just not necessary for me. My 120 gets me from A-B quick enough. And in today's weather I'm lucky if I can put 60 BHP through the tyres without them slipping. I why didn't I find a bravo with traction control.

you don't need t/c you need 17" wheels with the right tyres

as you say there are more effective things to uprate before you need more power
I like my little 16's lol.

I would definitely not say no to 17's but the prices I've seen for some of them are mental. I fact if I was to purchase some 17's how much do you think I could sell my dynamic alloys for with tyres? Not perfect condition but by no means bad.

Add to the list uprated hoses which are another couple hundred quid, maybe bigger injectors also.

Then brakes and suspension :)

....once you've spent all that you could buy something with 200+ out box. Don't get me wrong I like tweaking my cars but don't spend that sort of money anymore. Prefer to spend the cash keeping them immaculate and we'll serviced. I think your right a remap only is possibly the most bang for ya buck you'll get.

If you go for a larger wheel how bout something light weight, to help with the unsprung weight of the car.

Could do. I've found a dark set of genuine Bravo alloys online brand new £300 for the set, think they're missing the centre caps but I'm sure I've seen them on partsworld. I just want a really good looking car, power is great but it's not the be all and end all of a road car, it gets me to the speed limit and back down to 0 well enough.

This is the set I'm looking at. They will really go with my grey car I thing? Thoughts? http://bit.ly/1oxQBMk
