The rain has cometh!!! The car is damp, Been struggling to start and cutting out when brakeing etc. Given it a good old spray with some WD40 to get the moisture out which seames to be working but when i start the car from cold one of the belt squeels!
Could this be a problem with my cambelt or tensioner or am i worrying a little to much??

Cheers all for help yet again!

I have no problem with my HGT in the wet (famous last words). I think it sounds like an electrical problem so you'ge started in the right direction but keep the WD40 well away from the fanbelt. Also. is teh air intake full of leaves? If so, it's easily remedied - clean it out and put a new air filter in. Buy a genuine Fiat filter as the pattern parts are crap as a rule.

DAMP - pah - I left the window slightly open on the Barchetta and had to drive to a meeting sitting on a towel!

you should try those incontinance pants:)

WD40

WD40 doesn't hurt fan belts. You wouldn't be able to spray your plug leads if it did. It is good for STOPPING belts squealing!

Re: WD40

Damp....wet...rain....wassat? is that English or chinese?
Here its more like warm....dry....sun...and where-is-my-bathing-suit-so-i-am-off-to-swim-with-the-topless-chicks-and-budweiser-on-da-beach weather. hehe. sorry guys. :)

Re: WD40

Depends which planet you live on! Oil on a fanbelt? You must be mad!

Of course its going to make it slip and squeal!!

Re: WD40

"WD40 doesn't hurt fanbelts" what an idiot! You might aswell oil it to stop any squeaks while you're at it, too.

Keep any lubricant of any description well away from your fanbelt. What happens if it gets lubricated? That's right, it slips and squeals even more.

DOH!

Re: Re: WD40

LOL, It prob was WD40 on the fan belt come to think of it, but when i had the clutch fitted he noticed my starter motor had also come apart, 2 of the bolts had no nuts on so that could of been a problem also. Sorted now starts runs and changes gear like now also got rid of the setting off judder i'm so used to!

Re: Re: Re: Re: WD40

See - I'm not all bad.

An idiot mechanic once spilt brake fuid over my fanblet, although I'm not sure what he was doing with it in that region to start with.

He probably found me irritating too.
