hello,

some arsehole dug a screwdriver into my passenger side door lock overnight.
they had a root around in the glovebox but didn't take anything, not even my new Sony cd player thank god!

i have no idea about the price of car repair (yes, i'm a woman :D). How much is this gonna set me back as the lock looks completely gone?

cheers for that Dave.
seems they've done the drivers side lock aswell (nice of them), I only had a new one fitted three months ago aswell.

The locks don't seem that bad on a second look after work, they still work but just look like someones shoved a screwdriver in them (obviously!).

It depends a lot on the age of your Punto, if it is one of the originals it won't have a red key, therefore you won't have a transponder immobiliser. If this is the case you can just buy a new lock set and use the new keys.

If you do have an immobilser with a red key its a tad harder.
In this case your best bet is to look on Ebay, I have recently seen locksets WITH a red key. A "helpful" Fiat dealer will be able to change the locks over and recode the ECU with the new red key and program the immobilser to recognise the new blue keys.

Sorry, if that didn't make sense feel free to email me and we can sort it out over the PM system.

Evil-Punto AKA Evilution.

Sounds very familiar
including the make of CD player, and the fact that it's still there
The same joke cost me 236,81 euros to fix, and 25 euros to replace the remote control unit for the cd player.

Damage to the car was:
- large dent undter the lock, lock mechanism kept locking the doors (difficult to get into the car that way :D

Depends whether the lock is broken or not. Same happened to my MK1 punto but as the lock still worked the local fiat body repair centre patched it up and made it secure for £25 :)

the descent into insanity continues unabated

Ouch, that's a lot better then I did [8D]

I guess it all depends on how big the damage to the door is.
Shop around at different places, the first estimate for my car was "over 1000 euro" (new door and sprayin of the side, seen 4 meters from the car)...
Also go the specialized repair shops, not only fiat centres. Unless they happen to have a damage-repair specialist, they'll just send it to the nearest and add a few percents to the price for their trouble.

Our Punto 2 has just been robed. Same hole alongside lock in door. Anyone know how to blank the door locks? We will us the remote only.

take your car to a body repair shop and get it de-locked. that way the next time anyone breaks into your car they will only smash your window and not f**k-up your bodywork.

ask the bodyshop to weld a plate in place of the lock, then fill'n'spray.
you'll probably need the whole door spraying if you're after a professional job.

Cheers for all your help!
The locks work ok at the moment, but I reckon I'm going to look into getting them delocked.

Scum did this to my daughters Punto ,( damage beside the passenger door lock)
she's worked hard to save for this car ( all her money -----
the only student in the world going out to work on a Sat before 8 AM!! )
And the sh*tes did it on her 21st birthday ' stole the tools out the boot & the the leather driving gloves her mom had given her ,

still I expect they had a deprived upbringing.

i'd reccoment de-locking, easy on cars such as bravo, simple as fitting rear door handles. use alarm remote to unlock and if battery fails, simply unlock boot door and pull open doors from inside

Yep, they've done it again.
Last night, now the locks are completely f**ked, so I'm going to get new ones fitted next week along with an alarm although I'll be surprised if that makes a difference!

I've thought about delocking but I'm not going to bother as I'm probably going to get a new car early next year anyway, so I may save that for the new one!
