Here goes...
About ten days ago I have my drive/timing belt changed as the car is now 5 years old and I didn't fancy having a belt fail on me.
Today I was setting off home on a short return journey. Way out OK, not problems. On return leg my battery light stayed on when I started the engine. I thought perhaps the battery was knackered as that is 5 years old (alternator was replaced about 2 years ago) so itook it to the Halfords that is on the way home. They tested and the battery is at 97% of it's capacity.
When I was setting off from Halfords I decided to have a look under the bonnett with the engine running. Nothing seemed to sound untoward and the new drive belt seemed to be running smoothly, but the whole car was... shuddering, for want of a better word. The whole car was vibrating in a low frequency. This went away above about 1500 rpm and I didn't take it much above that for the rest of the journey, which ended at my local Fiat dealership.
Is this likely to be the alternator itself or could it be something to do with the replacement belt that was done not so very long ago?
Thanks
