Technical CV Joint Replacement

I believe i need to replace a cv joint on my 1.2 8v punto mk2b.

What sort of price will i be looking at to get this sorted?

if your car is lowered then this causes the ends to wear out quicker so my advice is to purchase a low mileage s/h original complete shaft off the bay and swap it over
should take you a couple of hours with your haynes open
reason i say this is most replacement cv joints available from factors are not as good quality as oe spec as many come from china, seen em wit me own eyes and boy do some not work long
s/h shaft £30?
labour probably £60 at a local sensible back street established no nonsense no free coffee hole

So let me get this clear in my head you are adviseing that i replace the CV joint along with the s/h shaft?

Also what does s/h shaft stand for?

s/h = Second hand

ie go to a scrappy, most you have to pull it off yourself, some might help you (my local is pull if off yourself)

So basically you want something that will look like this

However that also has the Drive Cup from the differential attached as well

if you do decide to remove the diff cup - remember to drain the g.box first, or expect a nice oil super smelly shower.....

A better example

the bottom left is the CV joint itself with a Gaitor on it
The people have provided what looks like a New nut on it too

The other end is the Diff Cup - which houses 3 roller bearings on a tri-pod, again sealed in a gaitor full of grease
