Went out on the old shopping trip with er indoors on Tuesday, no problem on the outrun, but on the way back with shopping in had a couple of slight unusual noises..............hard to tell where they were coming from.
Later same evening, owing to the continued failure of our local train company, I had a call asking me to run out and pick up our eldest daughter from work.
After backing off the drive, first left corner...........my poor ears, horrible grinding noise.........anyway carried on accompanied by Crunches, Boings, and Bangs....took it slow coming home, convinced the car was coming apart at the seams.
Had a good look around on Wednesday afternoon, when the rain had gone off. Soon spotted the problem, NSF spring was a goner........it had moved and was wedged against the inner wing.
As you who are regulars on here know I have a brilliant main dealer, so rang them up, and arranged to take the car in this morning at 09.30 to have the problem confirmed.
Got there, handed them my keys, went and sat down with a coffee, then another coffee.........wondered if I'd been forgotten. Then about 11.30 Chis came over and said car all done, it was the spring like you said on the phone, so I ordered one in and had it all waiting. No point in you coming back again, so all fixed.
Total cost, inc the 20% vat, £160..............plus the new spring/labour have a 2 year warranty, should it fail again within this time frame it will be replaced FOC.
Now read what you like into this, but I think its brilliant service at a fantastic price. If you can get to the Midlands, give Platts of Stafford a try........ask for Chris on Service Reception.
