Hi, I have seen cruise fitted to 2016 on models but just wanted to see if anyone has fitted it to an earlier one, my one is a 65 plate 1.2 sport just before the facelift,

I suspect trying to retrofit Fiat's system might be challenging, but there are good aftermarket alternatives at reasonable cost, such as this one.

Excellent, seems simple enough to fit as well, I will be in touch with them, thanks for the link

Its possible a Fiat retrofit might be a single part and just a quick change of permissions in the ECU, but maybe not. Hopefully you can find out can then take the simpler & cheaper option of retrofit vs aftermarket.

If you can DIY (its fiddly and not for a total novice, but not pro level stuff) you can get a full kit by company Lindgaard Pedersen for about £200 with stalk, control unit etc. One UK supplier is synergy-automotive.com, based in Chippenham, Wiltshire

I'm happy with my system, looks fairly OEM (family members don't believe it isn't, but I notice the colour shade of plastic on the cruise stalk is different to the indicator stalk!)

What age is this 500?

I know a forum regular had cruise added to a 2013 TA.. but it was @£500 IIRC

The one I was contemplating was @£320 fitted.. the kit was cheap

I have 3 cars.. so could add cruise to the others by the same pattern as the 3 hour install

I just wondered if it was possible to retrofit it and activate it in m.e.s, I know this is possible on some other cars but unsure about the 500,
Again I'm unsure if wiring is already in the car for it, but I still have to look for that, if an aftermarket kit will work that will be fine

That more or less answered my question, I did think it wouldn't be able to be done on a pre face-lift model, aftermarket kit it shall be.

My Lindgaard Pedersen system is on a '10 169 Panda. Hence my comment not knowing about retrofit vs aftermarket.

In theory, if you can DIY, and your vehicles all have similar electric throttles etc, and 1 or more of your 3 vehicles are occasional use only, you might be able to save on the majority of the cost by not buying the "brains" (a card packet sized box) of the cruise system for every vehicle, just wiring them all up, with stalk etc. as you can quickly unplug/plug the and move between vehicles.

Might not be practical for you, or not worth the £ saving for your usage or disposable £!
