cromas are NOT a total sales flop...

I've only ever seen one PRIVATLY owned chroma on the roads, the others were dealer owned (well had writing all over them with fiat & benington etc)>

2nd hand they are great value for money, and you get a lot of kit for your cash.

although the seat material is pretty nasty :(

I would go with the lack of advertising of the Croma for being a good reason for it not selling. I never saw it on telly, on a billboard or on a magazine advert. The interior was abit of a miss-match for a car of that sector, but with the right price structure it couldve sold much better in the UK. Just look at the Citroen Xsara - that was far from competent in its sector but its sold by the bucket load. Why? Probably coz Citroen pushed it through its advertising & put stonking offers on it. Admitedly Fiat may have not made as much money as theyd wanted by doing this but at least people may have thought of Fiat as being able to build something other than a small car. Now theyre back at square one again, no doubt after spending millions getting the Croma imported in the first place. :bang:

Well I think the Castiglio material on my (privately owned) Prestigio seats is actually very nice, and a lot better than my previous VW...:p

You're right though, great value second hand buy (y)

Interesting thread. Croma is great value second hand - if you can live with the fact it will keep on plummeting in value. This car is never going to bottom out until sub £1k. Styling is an acquired taste, but as with many Fiat products, it is far far better than the stupid UK motoring press would have you believe. I would be most happy with a 200bhp jtd thank you. In fact, that may make a better tow car than my Grand Cherokee V8 - off to look at autotrader now! :D

would be better if they just gave me the shodding thing for free!!! :D

what I want to know is when that 200bhp diesel is getting crammed into a bravo, with a manual that would be CHOCKED FULL OF WIN

It'd be too heavy... Much easier to remap a 1.9 multijet to 195.. or wait for the next gen bi-turbo which will be sitting on 190bhp standard

And it's too wide - even in the Croma the turning circle is bigger on the 2.4 than all the others (n)

More power, less weight, that's the trick - ask any motorbike racer :D

Good luck finding one, they don't come up very often...be sure to check whether the noseweight figure is enough for your needs, the maximum isn't very high.

Which becomes less important if you keep the car for five years. Pay less when you buy it and you can throw it away when it gets to be ten years old - hard to find cheaper motoring TBH (as long as it's reliable and your motoring needs don't change of course...)

Pllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaase get this thing off my forecourt :worship: :D

Seriously though, is it just me or are all the car dealers rather quiet and coming up with desperate deals at the minute? Must be the credit crunch taking hold.

yes, credit crunch = bad.

although I don't owe anybody anything so funk it :D

doesn't matter how much the car is, if I can't pay for it outright I won't buy it, simple as. I wouldn't be able to drive round in something knowing I don't own it, and if it gets nicked/trashed/I crash it, I stil have to pay £x for so many years when I don't even have said car :Shudders:
