Ok, my Bravos Germanic build quality has been flawed. To date no creaks, no bumps, no knocks, no nothing. However, these last couple of weeks a dashboard creak has developed and it's getting worse. It's coming from right in front of me, I can't locate or specify exactly even after much investigation but generally it sounds like it's coming from behind or around the instrument cluster, it's definitely getting worse. Anyone else experienced this or know of a fix? Thanks.

From what I read on here many rattles come and go by themselves. Has it been taken apart by a dealer at all? If it is very bad and still in warranty speak to the dealer.

Btw, the bravo is an improvement over past efforts, but it's not Germanic (or Scandinavian) yet. It would be far more expensive if it was!

Welcome to FIAT's world :) Mine does it too, it's part of the charm :p

My dashboard was taken out when i had to replace the front windshield because of a crack. Everything was fine for a month or two and then it started again. And another sound has apeared after the removal. A squeeky noise from the ventilation of the windshield..Next week the dashboard comes down again.

Our Bravo is upto almost 30,000 miles and no major rattles etc. Compared to the Stilo it is a far better build in terms of trim etc.

How old is the car? If it's still under the manufacturer warranty, you should be able to get that fixed without putting your hand in your pocket.

Yes, I agree but my local dealer is rubbish, I'd rather have my toenails and fingernails pulled out with pliers then have all my teeth pulled too and finally made to eat my own pubic hair than take it to Stoneacre FIAT Peterborough.

The third year warranty expires in November.

Looks like I'll have to get the tools out and inspect myself......................

I dunno chaps, compared to FIATs past I'd say the Bravo is well screwed together...............

This creak is bugging me though.......................

I understand how annoying is when you have a creak or a rattle that you dislike. It can be subtle but it will drive you mad!

I have the previous Bravo and that has one rattle only: the rear seatbelt reels. But in your case, as this is not unusual in the Bravo (or Audis) the problem creaking could be a result of the friction between the binnacle and the actual dash trim. Alternatively, the noise could come from the outside (a wiper or something)

A friend of mine has the same issue in his Mk5 Golf, everytime it starts he sprays a bit of WD40 between the dash joints and it stops, a short term answer but it works for his sanity. I think his is plastics rubbing together, car builders eh, will they ever get it right?
