Maxim, you can claim back hire cars, etc from other insurer. Just run it past your insurer first (get confirmation you can do this) as every policy is different. No harm in asking!

well its a shame about your crash mate,
seems a real pisser..
as for getting your car back from insurance,..if you think its worth it then get it back.just look at what you spent on service parts.
when i bought my car it was a cat "c" write off.
i paid £500 for it.only because it had been serviced up the eyeball's and dont hardly any miles on it.
i fixed the damage,wing,door,headlight.
took it to the ministry of transport,
for a vic check,just to make sure it wasnt a bravo with a escort front end on it.
and hey presto back on the road , it does however say on my log book" vehicle has been put back on the road"...
but at the end off the day if you fix it you know it is 100%,and it has ben to the ministry for the vic check so it is 100% road legal.

I had a similar prang in my HGT a few years back....

That lot cost £2.5K to fix So, I wouldn't be too hopeful about yours.

what did they do to it?
was it really that bad,
mine cost me about £60 for parts.
and about £100 for paint on wing and dooor.
remind me off the garage you went to...
so i never go there.

There was a lot of damage underneath too. There was a new wing, new bonnet, new bumper, new undertray, ri-jigging of the chassis, new nearside suspension, complete respray of the front of the car, new lights, new graphics, new radiator, new battery tray and some other stuff.

The garage used was Leeders in Dereham, Norfolk who have an excellent reputation and a hell of a body shop.

And to think, all this was done by spinning on spilt oil/fuel at 25mph, mounting the pavement and hitting the side of a building in Norwich city centre !

Thankfully my protected fully comp. insurance paid for everything

Guys im confused! When I wrote off my punto they gave me the pay off of 2k then gave me the option to either sell the scraped punto to the salvage guys which worked alongside the insurance and courtesy company or have the car back without any charges unless I wanted it driven back from Birmingham where it was stored it was drivable . ( I live in West london ). I ended up selling the written off punto for just over £400 and getting the 2k for the cars value . Why is it that you guys are being asked to pay for your own car back. I was on third party FF insurance and got a corsa for the 6 months it took to sort out. Claimed the 5k rental bill back from the third parties insurance which was paid back to my insurance company.
Im with Express insurance and my policy is with Doric - HSBC incase anyone is interested.

Maxim- Im so sorry to hear about your crash its crying shame cos you have only just passed and spent alot of time getting her looking nice. But on the bright side you can now get a newer model and you are safe and unharmed. I was thinking of selling my abarth last week for a new shape celica , they going dirt cheap now but them I saw the light and am now keeping her . So I hope that you do get another bravo .

yer glad too. im 3rd party, and was her fault. assumed and was kinda advised that iw du hav to end up buying it back off them. how did you go about getting a car in the meantime? because thats what i am looking to do? how easily was it claimed back off the other persons insurance?
