Today, an idiot pulled out of a side street and smashed straight into the side of my bravo.

The left side of the car is totalled- just a mess of dents and scratches. The passenger door won't open, and basically all the panels on the left side are ruined.
The front wheel took some impact aswell, and the steering now veers slightly to the right- so maybe some axle damage also.

I also had my 4 year old son in the front seat, he was fine- so we were ******* lucky I guess.

Anyway, my question is, is this likely to be a write off?
And is there anything else which could be a problem?
The car drove home ok, but the wheel is now flat.
Its worth about 700 squid.
Cheers.

If the side of the car is damaged like that it will be a write off.
if the passenger door is stuck then your sill and b pillar will also be bent. Insurance company will declare a write off.

Also, how long does it usually take an insurance company to make their decision after the car has been picked up and assessed?
Bearing in mind they won't get back to me until Monday, after they've spoken to the wa*ker thats wrecked my car.
Cheers again (this is my first crash).

It'll take the assessor about 2 mins.

My IC didn't tell me though until i rang and asked.

a similar thing happend to me in the hgt. Same sort of damage door wing pilar but no axle damage. Mine was a cat d which meant i could buy it back, which i did (although it was never the same) didn't take long for the insurance to sort it. You could get yourself down to the hospital and put a claim in the money from that would get you a new motor.
