I cant believe it!! 1st richard burns and now colin mcrae. he was a man that every rally driver looked up to and wanted to be. he was a icon!! and now unfortunatley a Legend!!

Police still haven't released full details, but it's almost certain that he's gone. :(

A tragic loss of a motorsport legend.

Met him at the 2006 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the missus got his autograph (pic below). Was a great guy, and had plenty of time for his fans.

its been confermed now,
Police have confirmed that rally driver Colin McRae and his son were among four people killed in a helicopter crash near his country home.Strathclyde Police said the 39-year-old was on board the aircraft with his son Johnny, six, and friends Graeme Duncan, 37, and Ben Porcelli, six.

Ben had been at the McRaes' house playing with Johnny shortly before the crash, police said.

The helicopter came down at Jerviswood, near Lanark, at about 4.10pm on Saturday. There were four people on board.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) began examining the wreckage this morning.
 
If it isn't tragic enough with Colin dying, the two little boys make it even more horrifying, and of course Colin's friend too.

A terrible event and one can only think of the families who have been affected by this.

I'm sure I speak for all BOO users when I say that our thoughts and sympathies go out to them today.

I have taken the liberty of posting a message of condolence on Colin McRae's website on behalf of BOO. It reads as follows:

It was with great shock and deep regret that we learned of the passing of Colin and his son Johnny, along with Johnny's friend Ben and Mr Graeme Duncan in such a terrible tragedy. The whole world of motoring and motorsport will mourn the passing of such an exceptional talent and the effects will be felt much further afield. We at the FIAT Bravo Owners Organisation would like to pass our most sincere condolences and sympathies to the McRae family as well as the Porcelli family and the Duncan family. Many of us were big rally fans and big fans of Colin. We share in your loss. May your God be with you in your hour of need.

a true legend of motorsport met him a few times at the autosport show in birmingham was a good laugh and a dam right decent bloke he will be truly missed. the thoughts go out to his family and friends

Colin is a great loss to the rally world and he will be missed :(

Roberto- that is a good piece of writing there mate it says what needed to be said in this time of sadness, i`m a bit shaken by this when i heard it on the radio to be honest as i used to watch the rally a lot

i was the same when Aryton Senna died he was a great driver too, unfortunately i watched the accident on F1 when it happened :(
