Has anyone heard of one of these and how much should it cost me?
Anyone know? This is for a brava 1.6 16v '96.

Great!:bang: It looks like the asshole who has the car is pissing me about then. He says he can't finish the job unless i can get one of these and since it doesn't exist then it's going to take a while!
I'm getting to the point now that it's a choice between court and a piece of 3x3 across the back of the bastards head.
Thanks for the response Jug.

Wife's been on the phone to the git and he says now that it's less like a housing and more like a bracket (It's going to be expensive if the bloody thing has the ability to morph lol).
Does this give any clues Jug?
Bear in mind, if you figure out what he's on about a part number would be the ideal thing as there's no way for me to leave my village let alone get to a scrap yard so i'll have to buy new.

oh the bracket! yes that makes sense (see pic below).

i doubt you can buy the bracket seperately (it'll be on special order if dealer does still supply it), so a scrapyard part may be your best bet (take whole sensor)

the bracket is important because the positon of the sensor is critical to its signal. you must have a secure & stable bracket and the gap must be adjusted carefully (using a feeler gauge) before tightening the single bolt up on the bracket.

i'd want to know how the bracket was damaged in the first place. they dont get damaged by magic. i know how easy it is to brake stuff, but i always admit to it and pay for the parts.

Thanks for the reply.

Apparently it's so corroded he can't get it off without damaging it!

if he has a new sensor to fit it comes with the bracket on the side so i dont see why its a problem if he has to destroy the old one to get it off. the only problem i can think he's having is if he cant get the bolt off.

Ok, thanks Jug.

I wouldn't be suppressed if it was the because of the bolt!
I'll tell him to try the scrap yards.

if it is the bolt (i'm imagining a rounded off bolt head due to a seized bolt thread) then he should cut a slot in the bolt head, get some heat on it (blow torch for a few secs), hit it with a hammer, then wind it out using a flat head screwdriver. thats what i'd do :)
