Crank sensor

Hi just new on this site hope this post is in the right section.

I have a fiat pinto active 2004.
What happens is it randomly looses power and can do so for half an hour then suddenly be alright again. Think the revs stay the same but power drops.i have been told off a friend the crank sensor needs replaced. Has anyone else had this problem and was it the crank sensor?

could be almost anything..,

do you get a warning light/ error message..,
or it just loses it's OOMPH..??

I'd try and get the fault codes read and cleared,

when was it last serviced,
plugs and leads changed..??
