Sometimes, as I turn the steering wheel before pulling of in a cold/moist morning I hear cracking sounds. The sound only appears when turning steering wheel and basically just goes away after the car has been driven for a short while. It is only present when I pull of from parking on a cold / moist morning.

Anyone knows what could be the cause of this and how to fix it?

Mine too, I understand from other posts it's related to the switch gear in the steering column (indicators etc). However replacing it would unlikely be cheap.

I have the same thing. Only @ the early mornings. When i steer while driving 2-3kmph (steering out) i hear a crackling noise. When i drive off its gone to not return till a few (8) hours of rest.

Same here (grande punto)

It's normal, I know other owners with the same noise.

The noise is present only on cold-moist days / cold start ups.

In an Italian forum they tried to fix the problem with lithium grease spray in the column bar but I think the noise is coming from inside the worm gear.

Also the noise is most noticeable when turning the wheel to the right and fast.
