Does anyone know if its possible to get cover so I can test drive a car? Due to my age I'm not allowed to drive anyones car third party, but didn't know if there is a way of getting cover for just a few hours (if that) to see if its any good. If need be, step dad is insured to drive any car third party, but I would like to drive it myself.

Going to phone Aviva in a bit and see what they say.

Those 1-day insurance companies want you to be at least 21 (some links I found stated 23).

Assuming Aviva is your insurance company, then they're probably your best bet. Shouldn't be too difficult for them to arrange something at a reasonable cost.

Aviva can do it...but can only post a cover note to me...which isn't very helpful as I'm going to see it in a few hours. :(

Surely if they issue a temporary cover notice, regardless of when it arrives, you're covered?

Yeah, but if you where selling a car, someone came up to you, asked to take it for a test drive, but couldn't prove that they where insured...would you let them drive it?

Hmm - good point, have you been asked to provide evidence of your cover?

I dont understand what you mean?

I haven't been asked to prove that I have insurance, I am going to view a car today, and wanted to take it for a test drive, but because I am only insured to drive my car at the moment, I cant. Aviva said they could cover me to drive mine and this car for today only, but only send a cover note in the post, not over email.
