Hi guys I've had a quick search but can't really find much. (Haven't been on this forum for a few years so I'm sorry if I've missed something! )

My bravo is knocking on the left hand side when going over any small bumps and you can hear it when turning full lock parking etc. Any ideas? I'm going to replace the droplinks and see if that helps. I did however take my car to have new tyres fitted at national tyres and got them to have a quick look. They suggested it could be the front ball joints, hub or wheel bearing or the steering arm. They told me to book it in and they will replace one at a time and provide me with a bill on collection....I'd rather not. So any ideas guys? They said everything looks fine but might be worn and they can't see so replace them to rule each one out? Sounds crazy to me! It's 100% on the left side only, over bumps or full lock. I've read about top mounts...could it be that?

Right so now the squealing. This is on the right hand side on full lock only. Sounds as if tyre is rubbing on the liner...that sort of sound but it's not. Any ideas?

Thanks (y)

Well! the first port of call is to investigate further by whipping off the wheels & actually take a look at what's going on under there. Could be a number of things related to the suspension set up. Remember to fit in pairs if you discover an offending part.

The drop links can knock even if they have zero play... been there done that...
will be obvious if they're gone when disconnected ... if the ball joint is firm and has some resistance to movement it's probably good. if on the other hand it's really easy to move around.. it's 99% bad.. or will go bad shortly.

Same applies to the lower ball joints.

Top mounts:
-the bearings can be checked by having somebody slowly turn the wheel while somebody else has a hand on the springs.. if the spring jumps or feels rough.. then the top-mount bearings need replacing. (the car's weight needs to be on the wheels...will be difficult to reach the spring... easiest way is on a alignment rack.. or inspection pit)
-the top-mount rubber part.. can be visually inspected with the spring/shock assembly off the car.... if it's cracked.. then probably needs replacing.

My Bravo squeaks over speed bumps... in my case it's the rubber bump stop that goes over the shock shaft... it move slightly in the top mount.. and squeaks on the shaft (dirt, oil... junk from the roads)

For squeaking try a strong solution of washing up liquid treating each bush in turn. You will probably find the offending one this way. I have permanently fixed similar noises on my Bravo this way. The mileage was low at the time so wear was not an issue.

Knocks like these. My actions would be
1 Drop links
2 Anti roll bar bushes
3 Lower ball joints
4 Strut bushes or struts themselves
5 Top mounts
6 Lower suspension arms

As suggested above always do pairs if replacing,

Check brake pads and for lips of the discs for the rubbing noises. Clean and lub the moving brake parts and replace dis if there is a lip. Can be worth filing the lip away.
