Would it be possable for me to replace the cam belt on the 1.6 brava are there any things to watch out for ?
I am quite good with spanners as I rebuild motorcycle
engines .are there any fiat tools that I should need ?

I'm spanich and it's possible what i don't understand the question.

I have a Bravo 1.6 sx, and i'm bery happy, but the principal problem of this car is his gerabox, it's too long, there are the bigs jumps in the midle of the gears, for example, to the 3th of the 4th gear there are 2000 rpm of diference, for a engine of the short stroke( this engine are the most short stroke of the old makes of cars), it's bery bad.

The problem it's: when you change the cambelt, you wil short more the zone of the power, for example, now with the cambelt of serie, this engine are the good power since 4000rpm to 5500rpm, with the cange of cambelt, the engine will be more power, but since 5000rpm at 6000, and when change the gear, the rps's, go out of the rpm's of power, and the car will be bad for do the drive fast,...and more consumpcion of fuel.

Just a thought-I used to change the belt on my 1.8 Ford diesel but that was rear drive so loads of room up front. But I was given this idea a while ago: buy a new belt, split the old belt circumferentially (learn that one, Chas) about 3/4 of the way in with a Stanley or similar then slip on the new belt. Remove the remains of the old one and heyhey-assuming the tensioners and everything else are in good nick. On the other hand, I eventually ended up by getting Ford to change the belt as they gave a warranty with it.
