General Cooling fan stuck on all the time,please help.

hello people,haven't been on here for a while,See it's as busy as ever

have a problem with my 105 JTD,the cooling fan is stuck on,even at the first turn of the key it kicks in slow at first then comes on full tilt and wont go of.

I have a few ideas,but I'm sure some of you knowledgeable one's on here could save me hassle and time? or i hope!!

Not up to speed on the jtd. I know that the pug/cit engines engage the fans when no signal is recieved from a faulty sender unit.

Yea its the same on the JTD. Open circuit on the temp sender will result in the fans being on all the time.

The cooling fan is switched on and off by a switch which is usually screwed into the bottom of the radiator but sometimes on the engine, I am not sure where it is on the JTD but someone on the forum will tell you. Have a look around the radiator and if you see wires coming from a connector on it that is it. To test just unplug the connector and the fan should stop if it is a simple thermo switch although some may fail safe where the fan will come on permenantly if there is a fault to prevent overheating (mind your fingers on the fan, on some cars the fan will run even with the ignition off). To replace the switch just unscrew it from wherever it is and screw in a new one available from most decent motor factors (Partco etc) for a few pounds.

On the JTD the temp sender is located on the thermostat housing which is mounted on the right hand side of the engine. Follow the top rad hose to where it meets the block and its there. The temp sender is sticking up at 90 degrees and has a green multi-plug on it.

hi i had the same problem with my stilo 1.6 16v i changed the water temp sensor and the radiator resistor but it wasn't any of them and i had to put the car into fiat for a diagnostic check and the came up with the air con presure switch so they changed it and regas the system and this fixed the problem so i would try the air con pressure switch .cost 160 from fiat . hope this helps

My Siena 1600 16V has a sender at the bottom of the radiator and a sender on the Thermostat housing, however when I removed rheostat B385 2110, i found the fan had stopped. If I just replace rheostat B385 2110 would the problem be solved?

does the fan work at all..??,
even if given direct 12V supply..?
