coolant quantities?

FIAT PUNTO ELX (1242cc PETROL, 3 Door HATCHBACK) Y REG MK2
hi everyone,
glad to be a member, really want to help my partner out of a few fiat issues.
Could anyone inform me exactly how many litres of coolant/antifreeze my fiat will need. (including a bit extra for rechecking levels after flushed,bled,filled)

If its the punto 1.2 8v engine then it take 4.2L of coolant. So if you buy a 5L bottle of coolant it should be enough to fill and bleed the system. Bleeding the 1.2 8v can be a little difficult because the strange design, but heres a link on how to do it.

If you buy a premixed - buy some extra
If you buy mix it yourself - then a 5L will do you well

When changing coolant
Fill the system up again with water - run for 3 - 4 mins and drop it again
This will help flush the old stuff out and possibly any muck still in there

Since there are parts that never empty - there will be water pockets still kicking around
So i tend to put in 1L Neat first, and then mix the rest 50/50
So that you remain a strong concentration

Yes this is the 'dreaded' 8v model. Read and heard lots of problems around the bleeding, airlocks etc. So im armed with a few hints and tips there!
Recently having EPS failure (common problem but intermittment) sometimes engine restart will solve. Hoping its not the rack or torque sensors. Heaters blow but cold only (after a quick heater matrix 'hose squeeze' test, i established that they were full of gritty sludge. This car seems as if everything is original and quite possibbly never serviced only topped up.
my plan of attack (rather than head for the scrapyard) is to purchase a new battery. Every fuse has been checked using multimeter. This will be as it needs a refresh (plus headlights/map light/EPS/radio deceased are all issuesand i have a sneaky feeling its the wrong battery) then pull off the heater matrix/radiator hose, get it flushed, check out the radiator condition. Slight leak from oil filter area so ill be looking at core plug, water rail, 0r the water pump O-RING.
go from there really....... the engine sounds lovely and smooth running, very quiet so i have some hope for it yet and im just praying that a new battery and a good flush, tight reseal and maybe, just maybe, be able to salvage this car.
