Technical Coolant level dropping rapidly...

It just seems that as soon as one problem is sorted out, something else goes wrong! [!] [V]

I noticed that the coolant level was on just about Min level so filled it up, this was just before crimbo. I filled it up to Max using about a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water. I checked the level tonight and its on Min again, this was after driving it from cold for about 10 minutes (so I suppose it could still be cold.)

I have had a look around the top of the radiator and all the hoses that you can see without taking the radiator out but I can't spot anything that would suggest a leak. I was looking for any build-up of crap.

Would I be able to see any leak if it is leaking at this rate? I dont suppose I could get away with Rad-weld can I? I've heard this is crap anyway.

Any help is appreciated!

it could be a very small leak,i once had a car with a tiny leak in a core plug that took ages to find.worth putting a rad weld in to see if it stops the leak but obviously finding the leak would be better.are you sure you dont have a head gasket problem and thats where you are loosing the coolant?B)

you're engine has just been put back together hasnt it, so its not going to be the head gasket.. is it

rad weld generally is crap, and in my case made the problem worse. the leak i had was with the water pump, there was no signs but a nasty smell as the coolent dripping on to the engine block and lossing coolent, it was quite pricey at the main dealers £220.
The radiator went the day after the water pump was fixed, plus found that 1 of the bottom pipes going to the rad was corroded where the clip was.
lossing that amount of water, you should b able to see the leak.

just because an engine has just been rebuilt it doesnt rule out the head gasket.faulty gasket,warpedhead(even slightly),incorrect torque settings etc.you can never rule something out even wen its new[V]

Im going to stop posting my technical problems on here! It scares me far too much! [V]

I started the car this morning while I had a fag and just before I got had a quick look under the general radiator area and noticed about 2 tiny little puddles, really small though. Hopefully just a split pipe or something. I've not driven to work, got the train and the cars going in to the garage tommorrow so wish me luck!

Hopefully it wont be much money!!
