Wife's 2010 Fiat 500 1.2 is leaking coolant - pic attached.

Is the item that looks like it's leaking a bleed screw? Can these be tightened, or do they split or often leak?

Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance.

Will have a proper look when I finish work.

Yes it is a plastic bleed screw.
There is a rubber seal o ring beneath.

I reccomend do not use a screwdriver to tighten . Just use finger and thumb and be gentle.

Wait until engine cold before touching.

Let us know the out come.

as Jack says above, it's a bleed screw. Tighten with your fingers. It should seal easily on the rubber O ring with finger pressure only. If it doesn't there's probably problem with the seal which is probably not going to be overcome by tightening excessively. Easily broken by overtightening so, if you do use a screwdriver, do so with great caution. There's a fair bit of pressure in there when hot so, again as Jack warns above, wait 'till the system is less than hand hot before fiddling with it or you might get an unwelcome scalding shower if it snaps off!

If its been previously over tightened the flat round top bit may be starting to split from the threaded portion. If you are keen you can partially unscrew it , say 4 full turns and feel if the top bit is "floppy" on the threaded part. I have a feeling the thread is m6 so a m6 gutter screw(big flat head) can be used as a replacement remember to check rubber ring.

Yes, as you predicted, the top part is splitting from the threaded bit. Thankfully it unscrewed in one piece.
I've just called Fiat and you have to buy the entire piece with hose at £74.36.
I'm struggling to find one elsewhere. Any ideas?

Always worth a call to Shop4parts: https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/ Often they have stuff not listed on their website or can get it. Pretty good prices usually. although sometimes shipping makes a nonsense of it when just a single purchase of a cheaper part.
Edit: how about finding a brass screw with washer and using a rubber washer under it?

I note that there's somebody selling an upgraded version on eBay. I have no affiliation or recommendation for the item nor the seller and therefore will not post a link but I am sure a basic search will find

Thanks. I had spotted these but they could take 11 days to arrive - and wife wants car back asap

There are many hose suppliers that will do the job just as well at much less cost. I saved £100 on a Panda top hose wich is still working perfectly 3 years on. (Fiat £112 and eBay (Gates hose) £12!!!)
