Hi all,
I have a 2.0 eleganza 03 reg and am considering converting to LPG as I do a lot of milage running around and it's costing a fortune. Just wondered if anyone has done this and whether it's worth losing the limited lugage space or changing the tank underneath?
Thanks:)

Hi Terri
we are thinking of doing the same, have an 04 2.0 petrol elaganza with 104000 miles on the clock, generally they put a tank under the car were the spare wheel goes. have you had any quotes for this work, would be interesting to find out what you have been quoted, have had two quotes one for £1100 plus vat and one for £1500 plus vat.
Best of luck

Hi Maisie

I've booked it in. £1400+ VAT for the top of the range conversion, 3yr warantee, full valet etc. The tank will be in the spare wheel well. I'm doing over 300 miles per week at the moment so should make the savings effective pretty quickly. Having it done while I'm away and not needing the car, so will post when I get back and let you know how it's gone. There was a cheaper option but most gave a 2yr warantee and smaller tank. I'm hoping I've made the right decision. a friend of mine runs a similar sized car and drove from Leicester to Cornwall on £30!!!

I had my 2003 2.0 auto done using a Prins sequential system. Worked perfectly and did not have any issue's, it is well worth it when you get to fill up. The economy is slightly worse than petrol, but not much.

I had the tank in the spare wheel well, but be careful they keep it far enough back not to get hit by the axle when fully loaded. I went over a bridge once with a full car and the axle hit the tank. No damage, but it was moved further back to allow full clearance.

When I first had it done in 2005 I was paying about 34p a litre.

Now have a TDV6 Diesel Discovery and wish I had bought the V8 with a LPG conversion as it would have been cheaper.

Well I had the conversion done and apparantly it's great and running well. I've yet to drive it as I'm still stuck in Australia awaiting a flight home. 2 flights cancelled so far but hoping to be back by the end of this week. Let's hope the saving help to recoupe the cost of 10 days extra time off and extra flights!!!!:bang:

I bought a 2008 (yes 2008 - long story) Ulysse Auto in June 2011 which had been converted to run on LPG when almost new by the previous owner. It is costing me about 16p per mile using LPG in mixed driving - even though LPG has gone up by about 10p per litre in the last few months. Very easy to switch from petrol to LPG and back, though you have to plan where to fill up with LPG as suppliers are few and far between.
Now I need to acquire a full-size spare wheel (standard alloy) and/or a skinny spare. Any suggestions? Was a skinny spare ever available?
