Hi All, with the colder weather now upon us, I'm getting a fair amount of condensation building up on the inside glass - mainly the windscreen and front windows.

It seems a little higher than other cars I've had before.

Any ideas for a solution or what to look for?

I'm not sure if the cabin filter may be an issue?

Thanks in advance for your advice and tips

Hi 🙂

Fiat tend to have plastic drain tubes at the bottom of the windscreen scuttle

Search "Duckbills". On here for lots of info

These plasticky tubes can get clogged with leafmould.. And the scuttle below the screen can hold Lots of rainwater

Water leaks around the tailgate and poor sealing of the roof centre section to the rear quarters. You may have a hole. Bravos has an issue. I had the same on one of our Pandas with a 1cm hole where the panels not sealed behind a rear lamp unit, Look underneath for missinmg body panel grommets. Feel around the boot and check and see if you have any damp spots as missing body gommets and poor sealing are always possible. If you can locate where the damp is being retained you will be a lotnearer a solution. Inspect all doo seals too.

Clean the windows from the inside of the car even if it appeared to be clean and if you've never done it before. (y) Dirty windows attract more moisture.

You can demist the windows fast by setting the cabin temperature and blower speed to max and activate AC to collect the moisture. Also set the airflow up to the windscreen and windows. Make sure that cabin air recirculation is not active and air is coming from outside. You might want to drive a bit with windows slightly open to get the moisture out.

It's a good idea to change the cabin airfilter every year.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll take a look around all the various bits and see what I can find

As previously stated, look for points of ingress.
They reckon we ‘track in’ about a 100l of water on shoes, open windows, door openings every year. On modern cars, they are sealed much better than cars of yore (which were like seives), so once it’s in it’s harder to get the water to escape.
If you have aircon, use it all year (yes for heating as well as cooling) as it’s drier air. Wehn using to heat, crack open rear windows and the moisture can escape whilst your driving

I never turn the AC off.
It may not be ingress, but a build up.
If you can, weather and security, permitting, park it with the windows open on a warm day, let the air flow through. Drive around with the windows open
And as others have said, clean the inside of the windscreen and all the windows with proper automotive glass cleaner

Does the car have aircon and have you now turned the aircon off with the weather getting cooler ?

Turn off the aircon on any car and the moisture that condenses on the evaporator will then get heated up and evaporated into the air which then gets blown out of the vents and around the car. If this damp stays in the car you just end up in a cycle of blowing warm wet air around the car and the car will end up damp and moldy. Better to continue to run the aircon through the winter, air conditioning as the name would suggest conditions the air, drying it out and making the cabin just a lot more pleasant, keeps the condensation down and keeps the windows clear on a cold morning.
