I've been told by work that I can have some form of training, up to a value of £1500!!

I've decided that I am going to go down the Microsoft route, and have singled out the MCSA and MSCE. Can anyone recommend either one more than the other? Just another note to consider, the MCSA also comes with the MCDST units and exams, but the MCSE is more expensive (although still within budget)

Any recommendations considered and apprecated :)

Cheers,

Martin

Microsoft certifications are MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) qualifications - just one exam gives you MCP status.

You can then combine these MCP certifications in certain combinations which make up a bigger qualification.

For example if you choose a certain two they can become the MCDST. Then if you've chosen two relevant exams for the MCDST you can add two more and make it a MCSA, then you can add more and get MCSE status.

Basically they're each made up of the same MCP exams (or can be) so you can progress up the qualifications.

Have a look here for more info:

The question is what kind of training are they offering you ? Course based ? One week ? If so that's usually only one module (MCP subject) and won't include exams etc. be prepared to swot really hard for it as well.

Cheers for the reply, sorry for the delay!

The course is a work-at-home one where they send you all the books, CD-ROM, etc and you work at your own pace. According to the website it covers all modules. At the end of the course, there is a one-off fee to sit the exams before you become MCSA/E certified.

I've heard about what you were saying about the MCP modules, only I heard it the other way around - you sit different modules from the MCSE, MCSA, MCDST, etc. which will finally make up the MCP.

Many thanks for the reply,

Martin
