Okay at last I have the mot certificate. Any normal guy would think Great! but not I. The reason for this is the multi has developed a horrendous rattling grinding noise after 15 mph. Okay I thought. First check at the nuts on all the jobs I've done. Some turned a turn but thats it. Checked the driveshaft, suspension and arb everything was fine. By this time I was soaked. Did I give up! no. I plundered on and headed for the NS of the car, jacked it up, place the wrentch on the wheel nuts and found my problem. I hadn't tightened the dam things. I was tired okay. Every makes mistakes lol. The wheel was actually loose. So checked the rest just incase.

ok so you was a "complete tit" but at least you took the time in the pouring rain to find the problem, good on you it could have been a lot worse..

Two and a half years on and I still cringe thinking about this:
we (me, wife and daughter) set off for the South of France in the Multi.
We were going for a week in a villa with some friends. I'd been a good lad and done a service, checked the brakes, changed the discs and pads etc etc.
Near Nice on the autoroute, noticed a vibration at high speeds. Stopped, checked around the car couldn't spot anything and drove on.
Following day, having arrived at our destination, drove to the supermarket for essentials (beer, wine, beer etc) and the vibration was worse- to the point where it felt the wheels were about to drop off.
Pulled in to a lay-by, had a look round. A friendly Dutch lorry driver wandered over to see if he could help. I can't remember if it was him or me who spotted the rear o/s wheel only had 3 wheel bolts. I checked these remaining 3 and found one was on the point of coming off and the other two very loose indeed.
When I think of the speeds we'd been doing earlier on the motorways I think we had a very lucky escape. At least now I can recognise the feel of a loose wheel!
I make damn sure I fully tighten all wheel bolts now and check them a few days later.
