General Compatible Gearbox

I have taken my car to the garage as i am getting a very metallic clunk under my car. The mechanic has told me that it is the gearbox that is at fault.
Can anyone tell me which other fiat gearboxes would fit a Stilo 1.4.54 plate

Are you sure it's the gearbox and not the driveshafts? A worn inner CV (aka spider) can cause knocking).

Meanwhile I can't see any other Fiat model with the same gearbox (it looks like you need 55188718/55183080) but that doesn't mean there aren't any out there.

The Stilo final drive is 14/57 and there could be identical gearboxes in use apart from the final drive (e.g. 15/58) which would still fit and be more or less indistinguishable in operation... but there's no way to know for sure since they have different part numbers.

Hopefully someone will have found an alternative already..
