General common problems with bravo, buying one tonight???

hey im looking at swopping my mk5 fiesta with a 1999 fiat bravo with 71,000, the cars got an amazing leather interior and a bodykit etc. i just wondered whether theres common problems with bravo e.g like headgaskets etc, that always go wrong, he said he had the cambelt done a year and half ago and the brakes at the same time, any help would be much appreciate as iam still a major novice and with owning a fiesta i dont know where to start with a bravo??? thanks alot Jake

it helps enormously if you say which engine it has, because many of the common faults are engine specific. for example the 1.2 does have head gasket problems, but the others do not.

in that case head gasket failure is common, and so are problems with the throttle position sensor and/or idle speed actuator, leading to high or erratic idle. gearbox problems are not unusual, especially differential failure. overall the 1.2 is a good choice, find a good example and you'll get a bargain car.
