i got a load of quotes to insure a punto for social and domestic use. £240 was the best but discovered when buying that as my 6 yrs of no claims bonus was earned for the last 2 years with a van on a commercial policy then i can't use the ncb and am back to 0 years NCB and £500 to insure!

Now thats not very high compared to some of the insane premiums i've noticed scanning the forum but its still double and seems like a con - that an insurance company has no probs with NCB transfer from domestic to commercial but impossible to go back the other way. anyone know why this is? anyone else had the same happen? i've got 10 more days to find an insurer that will honour my NCB, or get over it!

You might also try Direct Line; I have transferred NCB with them both from a car to a van and from a van to a car.

They also allowed me to transfer my van insurance to my car when I scrappaged it for my new 500 earlier this year.

When it comes to changing vehicles, different companies appear to have significantly different policies and administration fees - Direct Line have always been fair and reasonable in my dealings with them and if you think you may be changing your car during the period of insurance they are cheaper than many.
