come across this car a few days ago when i decided i wanted to make a few changes to my car!

i noticed it hella expensive for a cam! my old saxo VTS cams came in at well under this

few questions for people with knowledge of the product

dose this cam cause a poor idle, and a poor low end? it did on my last cammed car and it was horrible around town

using the 280 cam what the increase in power like, im sticking with the 1108 engine,

Lovely idle, but no torque. Needs to be fitted with other engine mods to get value for your immense amount of money for the cam

Cheers

thanks for the reply, so id be talking alot of internal work etc to see a worth while gain?

IMHO there is very little point in buying a hugely expensive cam and putting it on a tired engine. It might make you feel good, but its not going to be the best idea.

I have that cam, but my engine was bored and had new pistons, lightened flywheel, a lot of head work, inlet manifold work, 40mm TB, large sized 'Bob', cold air inlet in bonnet, janspeed manifold, OMP exhaust and a bespoke programmable management system.

I get 80bhp at the wheels, which is approaching 100% increase.

Cheers

I had the cam with a 3.6kg flywheel (I think it's the one Ming is selling now) idle was ok, hunted abit but was great fun to drive with and pulled right to the limiter.

Mods I had were
Ported head and inlet (not uno mani)
40mm tb
GSR CDA kit with 2" bob (jatkinson has it now)
Csc mani and decat, no centre box and a custom b/box
Avanti chip to go with cam
Piper pulley

Never had it set up properly on a RR with the pulley. Plenty of scope for improvement with MPI, aftermarket ECU, proper exhaust system and head work.
I loved the setup I had tho, many a smile put on my face.

Got the C&B300 now:slayer:
Doubt a C&B will ever come up for sale in classifieds, so either go for it and buy new (not from gazzella, pm me for a contact in Italy) or just leave it and live without

yeah i know your both coming from, im not scared of abit of work, but looking at it, money will be the biggie!

im also debating changing the bottom end out for a 1242 for the 30% increase in torque, to push it that little bit more

really dont want to go down the turbo route i dont think, i know how long it takes, and how are they are to get running properly without paying ££££
