Punto (Mk2/2b) Colinf1's 2000 Mk2 8v.

Introduction

Hi all,

Heres my progree blog of my work in progress

Bought it in May,

then after a good service and wash/polish

then after i done tints...

and carbon fibre effect badges

then alloys

cc'd wing mirrors

hopefully be getting a few bits n piece to make it look like this soon

Tried the colour coded rings in photoshop, but they looked a bit iffy, so there staying silver lol

Got my tail pipe re-routed today, so it wouldnt melt the mudflaps. They cut old pipe off and just made up a new one, comes straight out with a slight bend in the middle to get under the bumper.

Also priced up long life stainless steel sports backboxes, were coming in at £150 with twin tip, but was no point replacing a perfectly good backbox.

A good wash and wax today, also treated glass with Rain-X.

Finally got the finger out and got a set of bumpers.

Front was a tesso blue from a sporting
Rear was a lagoon blue from a mk2b active sport

Now there a nice gold! and whats even better, no orange peel, okay a few wee runs to deal with but not overly concerned about that. Leave them to harden up overnight, ready to stick on tomorrow.

Was missing towing eye cover on front bumper, so just used the one from my own.

Also missing a rear reflector but just going to get some red reflector tape and cut it to size. Plastic lugs on the rear of the grilles on back bumper are going to be melted because the little clip rings that were on them had rusted away.

Front needs the other bump strip put back in then transfer the splitter from old to new before it goes onto car, will be easier to get the splitter tighter so theres no gaps.

Your car will just look awesome when they are on! the Mk2B rear bumper always looks good, should set your car apart (y) :D

They look really smart

Would have been a good one for you, already in the right colour, wouldn't have need any fixing or touching up. Keep looking...

didnt get working on these til around 12 today,

Started on the rear, few bolts rusted good and tight, rear crumble part is totally different to the mk2b, so had to take it off. On the car I got the rear bumper there was just 3 pieces of foam, so will try and get those.

Front wasnt soo bad to do, but it started raining as soon as I had the front jacked up to start on it, however worked tru the rain to get them on.

Mudflaps, Splitter and number plates where transfered before bolting them to the car.

Result...

these took ages to get off

Done! not doing anything more to it.

Looking very smart m8. and im very glad to see you went with the mk2b rear bumper i think it looks so much better. (y)

haha you say your not doing anything else to it but you will find something you want to do it always the case. lol.

Your cars looking very well Colin, a credit to you. I actually prefer the wheels without the centre caps, gives it that Euro look bud. Where did you get the roof spoiler from, really like it, subtle, looks like its factory and not max power, if you know what I mean. CC bumpers making all the difference to bud (y)
