Punto (Mk2/2b) Code reader

Hi there can any one help me i have a code reader pluged it in to my punto 1.2 8v and it won't link to the car just comes up linking error also funny thing is it put the engine light on and the car started to caugh and sputer then switched the car of then after a few minits every thing back to normal but as soon as you plug the obd2 reader in light on again what is this any help

HI, and welcome to FF,

sounds dodgy to me,

a lot of us on here use MultiECUScan, with great results,
the MES system uses ECU specific adaptor cables (colour coded),
they have individual wiring inside.., just wondering if somehow your getting a crossed connection,:bang:

why were you plugging in a reader anyway.??

what reader have you got?

Id suspect the code reader is faulty.




any Basic/ OBD 2 reader shouid work.
ive plugged them into many punto and never had a problem.
