I have a Fiat Bravo S reg, which came with 1 red key. I went to Timpsons and had a blue key cut and coded and have been using that since.

The code light used to go out after a couple of second when turning on ignition but not it just stays on, the car starts but the code light is on even when driving. Does anyone know why this has started to happen since I was used to it turning off just after starting.

Probably because Timpsons cloned your red key.

You should of bought 2 blank blue keys, got them cut at Timpsons and used your red key to program them to the immobiliser on your car. That way you would have to standard blue keys.

Everytime you use the red key your opening the immobiliser ecu to read new keys, I can't see this being health for the ECU as its meant to be used completely using a blue key and the red key only for programming.

I'm sure Tony or someone will clarify.

So the £25 at Timpson was a waste and I should have got two blanks off Ebay for £15 each had them cut, totaling about £40 for two? And then coded them myself?

You cant program them yourself because you dont have a machine and you dont know what code to put in them. Aftermarket keys are blank as supplied.
When you use the red, blue, blue, red, sequence, you are loading the keys into the car, not programming the key/s. You could borrow a friends 2 blue keys and get Timpsons to copy the codes from each into your keys, then you have 3 keys with different codes in them which will enable you to load them into the car.
Tony.

when doing the red blue blue red sequence, CODE light wont go out after the second blue key is inserted. What could be or what am i doing wrong ?

You are not using a master key first, or the 2nd/3rd key you are trying to load is not a genuine Fiat key or its an aftermarket clone of one you have, or its an aftermarket key which has not been programmed yet. Or the second blue key is a clone of the first

ok...the whole story is i had a bravo hgt with master and 2 blue keys, all genuine fiat. Then the ecu got screwed up and i put in a new ecu but with it i only got the master key. So i took the chip out of the master key of the new ecu and put it in the master key of the old ecu ( so it would fit mechanicaly into the contact and also electronically to pass the code ) , and now i wanted to programe the 2 blue keys of the old ecu to the new ecu. That should work ,right ?
So they are all genuine fiat ,but if one is a clone of the other.. don't know how to know that. And also i have read a lot of threads here in which they were advising going to the local keymaker to get keys cut so i don't really see the genuine fiat key need. What is the difference between a genuine fiat and an aftermarket key ?
The red key is the master key ,and the two blue keys have the same code to each other but different to the master key. That is what i need, right ?

now the procedure passed but it still wont start on the blue keys. The thing is that the blue keys are from another ECU ( the old one ) . Is that ok ? And i got them checked at the locksmith and they don't have the same codes in them. :confused: But i made a copy of one of the blue keys ( so i would have two blue keys with the same code ) ,went through the procedure, and still no start.

Think I have it all now,
Firstly ALL Fiat keys are pre-programmed and ALL have a unique code,and all are locked, ie no copies.
I assume from this that you changed the immo over with the new ecu.
On a few Bravo the key system was the same as the Punto ie Megamos, most of them are Philips transponders and they use a different data protocol.
I think you may have a mixture of the 2.
The transponders for Punto are glass Megamos
The transponders for Bravo are black plastic Phillips.
Look on the immo box and check the part No.

Punto = 46734570
Bravo = IMM110.01

i can't locate the bloody immo thing. I know that it's supose to be under/behind the fuse box and know what it looks like but i cant see it . They guy that sold me the ecu and immo says it was an IMM.... . If i do find it can i see what is written on it without taking it out ? Because i tried the programing procedure one more time yesterday and it worked. The blue keys are starting the car now. So i don't want to touch anything in fear of messing something up. :)
And thank you for trying to help.
