Hello everyone

I own a 1.2 stilo. It has a radio cassette player with a cd changer. Since the Cd changer is broken, I bought a CN+ for a very good price. It was cheap because the owner said it had a defect. The defect was the following: everything would work normally until you would turn up the volume a little bit higher and the sound would cut out. The head unit wouldn't turn off just the sound would cut off. So I thought that it must be the speakers fault and I bought it. I want to use the CN+ as a cd and mp3 player, I don't need the navigation since there are no maps for where I live. My questions are the following:

1. Can I just plug it in, instead of my original radio? Will it work or do I have to change something in the wiring ?
2. Will it read the km, temperature and things like that, by just plugging it in or do I have to mess with the wiring again ?

As far as I understood from the installation guide (its a great guide, thanks) I do not need to tackle with the wiring in order to use it only as a cd, mp3 player ...is this true? And what do you think about the problem with the sound cutting out ? I searched the internet and the only reason I could find was that either the speaker have touched a ground lead somewhere or bad wiring or something with the impedance mismatch ....anyway I would really appreciate your opinion ....thanks

p.s. and will the mileage flash if I use it only as a cd/mp3 player ? (it does play mp3 right ???)

thanks for your reply Adamcot.... so actually I do not need to do any wiring job, in order to use it as a cd/mp3 player, right ?

CN+ Help !

Hello everyone

I finally got my CN+. I installed it in the car and it works fine. My question is: Why won't it come on when starting the car and why won't it turn off when I turn the car off (I have to turn it on and off manually). And also why won't it read my mileage, Temp ect from my car ...thanks in advance.

Re: CN+ Help !

I just plugged the connectors as they were from my previous radio cassette player which used to turn on and off with the ignition... do I have to do something with the wiring...and why it won't read the mileage and temp and ect from the car ... thanks

CN+ SetupCD changing language

Hello everyone

I've been trying to change the language back to English but it asks for the setup cd. Since I don't have one ...I searched this forum and I found a file to download..an nrg image of the setup cd...I burned it to a cdr with disc at once/96 option and with minimum speed ... I insert it to the cn+ but when I try to change the language it says that there's no setup cd inserted ...what am I doing wrong ?

I think that the reason why it won't let me change the language is that it's not powered by an ignition feed ... right ?

Re: CN+ SetupCD changing language

The correct procedure is:
  1. Switch the CN+ off using the “ON” button.
  2. Switch the ignition on then insert the Setup CD when it first turns on. Allow the unit to boot up.
  3. Press "Setup" then "Language" to change the language.

tried that...won't work. On the startup "FIAT" screen says version 9.9 meaning 9.8 ...I think the image of the setup disc that I downloaded isn't the right one.... does anyone have the setup cd image of 9.8 version .... thank you very much

another question: I'm not sure I get this (from the guide) "Now, you need to insert a pin and wire into the Pin 4 location of the power ISO connector. One way of doing this is to buy the pins from an electronics firm, solder a wire on, and insert into the connector (removing the central yellow bar to allow pin movement)" .... ok so I insert a pin and a wire to Pin4 of the power connector that goes into the CN+... and where do I connect that wire ? to an ignition feed ? right ? and where is that ...? I just plugged the connectors as they were and the CN+ works fine ...so this is IMPORTANT : Do I have to connect it ti the ignition feed in order for the CN+ to read the mileage, temp ect from the car ... ??? or it doesn't read that data at all.

Sorry for being such an a** ...I do not know much about these things
and thank you for your help and patience with me. .. :)

we told you before to connect a switched + 12v wire to pin 4, otherwise it won't work!
you can connect it to the cigarette lighter cable or to some other suitable cable with switched +12v.

ok ... sorry for my ignorance ... i went and bought a PC2-36-4 connector. I was afraid of messing with the wires since I heard a lot about fiats infamous electric problems.... anyway I'm sorry again ...and thank all you good people that tried to help me ....

I finally got everything to work. I installed an ignition feed from the left side of the steering wheel (orange cable) and it worked a treat (except the f***er that I bought the CN+ from, had given me a wrong master code...and I had to reflash it to 9.8).... other than that it's all good :D.

I just wanted to express my appreciation for all the good people that helped..and wanted to say how magnificent this forum is....fiatforum....rules.
