Clutch Troubles

when pressing clutch it feels like rubbing against sandpaper. and it clicks etc...
Turn engine off and press clutch in with door open and i can hear it clicking under bonnet, and can feel it clicking and rubbing under foot!
any ideas? its in for service on saturday so will obviously get it sorted then, will it be safe till then and what am i to expect?
dont want mechanic to see a mug walking into his workshop lol. thanks

Sounds like your clutch or gearbox is shafted i wouldn't drive it......Is it driving ok/biting point feel normal? Also whats the milage etc?

biting point is all fine never changed, clutch works well just feels rough and clicks, mileage is 87000 on a W Reg Brava 80sx
can you throw prices at me please?

thrust bearing sounds like

what on earth is a thrust bearing? is it expensive?

Its part of the clutch assembly, and means a new clutch. You can expect to pay anything from £100-£220 for a garage to supply and fit a new one if thats what it is. Its no a breakdown mind, just wear and tear, same as needing new tyres or brakes...

I had this on my HGT.

If it is a slight rubbing sensation under your foot I wouldn't worry as I was told that when Fiat made them, the springs were too long inside the release bearing and would poke through after a bit of wear, therefore rubbing slightly on the clutch plate.

If it is a more serious rubbing/grinding then get it sorted.

the car is also giving me static shocks everytime i get out of it after the "rubbing" occurs.
visited mechanic this morning, he says its either the clutch disks wearing, or something to do with slave cylinder! does that make sense to anyone?

if you are finding your gears without grinding them then i doubt it's the slave cylinder. As pointed out renew the 3 part clutch
