hi all , i think my thrust release bearing has gone after reading the symtoms on previous posts. just wondering though, is it dangerous driving the car like this for a couple of days? cant get the car into the garage until next week. and also, does it need an entirely new clutch, or can it be repaired? cars done 55k miles so im thinking probably best just 2 replace the whole lot?

cheers

John

mine been doing it for 2 years i should get it changed but i can be arsed as it still works fine... just rattles

Its not worth just replacing the bearing, you've got to remove the gearbox to replace it which is a LONG job so you might as well replace the lot. At 55k the clutch won't have that much life left anyway.

Mine's been doing it for 18 months. Warranty people say 'Wait until it breaks and we'll fix it'!!

cant believe they said that!

what happens if it goes, you lose all gears while on a rounabout. could cause an accident dude.

it happened to me with ut the accident part because it was late at night.

Couldn't believe it myself, but their attitude is if the car's still going, it must be OK!

My Clutch has just gone.... (I think)
Clutch bite, was at the top end of the pedal, and then on a roundabout, went all spongy, and then only had a little bite at the bottom, which lasted about five minutes...
Is it the clutch???

Done 83000 miles.(only ever had brakes, and tyres changed)
