Hi Guys and Gals,

Not too sure if this is the right forum to post help questions in, if not just let me know and I wont make the same boo-boo in the future.

Anyways my clutch went pressureless on the road yesterday, Im driving a Fiat 99 model, 1100. When switched off the gearstick happily shifted through gears. Of course since the clutch was basically falling to the floor when i pressed it due to lack of pressure the car would stall if I had left her in gear upon starting it.

Now I'm a complete n00b when it comes to engines so I phoned up my best buddies dad who told me my lil uno probably doesnt have a hydrolic clutch but uses a wire instead, so my theory of an air pressure bubble forming due to lack of fluid (which there was, but I guess thats break fluid I topped up then since it uses a wire).

Im looking for some clarification here, is the clutch hydrolic or does it use a wire? And depending on the answer and the description of the problem (pressureless clutch) what can I do?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it didn't make any nasty noises, then it's the hydraulics, probably slave cylinder.

If there was a hell of a nasty noise first, then your thrust bearing has siezed and destroyed the clutch.

:)

Hi gr33ngiant and welcome to FF (y)

Where are you from with the late Uno?

I’m not really sure on the late Uno TBH, but earlier Unos with a hydraulic clutch had the clutch fluid reservoir mounted on a turret – see below.
