Hi all, we have a 2015 500 0.9. Attached is a pic of the broken spring and a loose nut and bolt. The spring broke today so is now rattling about. Can someone explain what this spring is for. It is welded at the top onto a metal plate but no idea where it was this end snapped. Also what the nut and bolt is for and why would it be loose. Thank you

I think you will find it is an "over centre action" mechanism to make clutch operation easy.
Possibly the pedal may feel heavier without it working correctly?
Looking at your photos it is possible some one has "bodged" the fitting as it doesn't look factory to me.

Hi, what do you mean bodies? What bit do you mean from the pics attached.

I take it you mean the word "bodged" and not bodies?
I was referring to the loose long bolt and nut just below the spring coils, I assume it was put there in place of what ever was there from the factory to locate the "over centre spring" I mentioned.

Ah ok. I can't find a diagram that matches the pedal assembly I have so can't cross reference it. Grrrr

Yeah ive had a look but none seem to show that spring which is baffling me
I did have a look at a 2010 Fiat Doblo I have in drive and that seems to have the coiled spring on the left.
I have a bad back , so this is the best I can do.:)

Look at the bugsymike photos. There is a spring which could have been broken, lost or whatever from your car.
A bodged job could be the weld and bolt. I would be suspicious of a spring being welded. Bodged!
Yeah its difficult as a different car but I will take it to a garage tomorrow and see if they can work it out. I'm guessing its to do with the clutch pedal movement as since it broke it is now easier to depress pedal.
