the little beast has always been a bugger to get into gear (1st n 2nd), even after having a new clutch.
but after driving the car round for about 15mins i cant get 1st or 2nd with out the aid of a kick, ive tried ajusting the cable a few mm which normally helps but now the clutch is biting on the floor and pulls the car like an automatic with the clutch down?

please say this isnt a new clutch or a expencive trip to the garage.

or have i just been adjusting the cable the wrong way!

Sure sounds like adjustment, esp. if you've had a new clutch fitted! How much was that, by the way? The biting point shouldn't be on the floor - I bet reverse must be a pig to get. I had that problem some time ago, so called the good old AA out - they adjusted the clutch pedal up to just under the level of the brake pedal, as someone else has suggested.

I hope the OP got that problem sorted sometime over the last 5 and a half years.
