DIY is probably the only way out.
I thought that too so I brought the welder home from work to fix it, didn't realise that the gun was live all the time, the one I'm used to comes live with the trigger, and I welled the nozzle up on my first try. :bang: and for some reason theres no spares with it. I've had to borrow my other half's dads car to get me to work. its looking like she may have to go, its such a shame, I've got the turbo, intercooler and money for the megasquirt, thanks to MJ not touring now. but I need a reliable car and at the moment this just isn't.:(

well its lasted about 3 weeks, one of which I wasn't driving it because it didn't have an mot, its gone again, well the pivot has but it was hard to get it into gear before so i adjusted it 2-3 turns and it was fine so I'm prittey sure its buggered again.

so my options are:
1 take it back to the same place and get it done under warrantee
2 take it somewhere with trained staff that know what there doing
3 do it myself (I've never done one before tho)
4 sell the car as is.

If its under warrenty then bring the roof down! Should not have to pay for it to only bugger up!

Kick up a storm! always works :D

I've been talking to my dad and he had something simler on our old punto, on the thrid clutch one of the lads doing the work spotted the fork was buggered, after changing that he didn't have a problem. I'm pritty sure that they havn'r changed this, being one of the only common bits left from when all this agro started is it possible/likely that thats at fault? I refuse to believe that the grarbox has caused any of this.

well I've finally got the car to the guarage again this morning, I've told them to get the clutch changed again and change the fork, he said that they had to change the fork over from my 5 speed box onto the 6 speed, could this hae anything to do with all the agro? there also going to sort the dent out on the bonnet that they did, is there anything else that I should have changed/looked at while it in there? this is the last time its getting done so I want to know its going to be alright. is there anything else that could be causing all this agro? there still saying that its the gearbox thats causing it.

They should have inspected the fork the first time...

Ok

Seized or
badly worn (the material may have failed) or
whatever

if they say it is a lump of metal then you need a new mechanic.

Yep this thread is back.
I've finally got my car back now, we've changed the clutch fork and it was very worn and flattened, I'll try and get some pics on later today. We've put a new clutch in, cable and pivot point, so toutch wood it should be 100% now. would a badly worn clutch fork have caused all the agro I've had? or do you think there may still be a gremlin waiting to rise its head again?
