I own a 1995 Fiat Uno 1.0 litre Start. It was running fine until today when I noticed some play in clutch pedal and it was hard to get into 1st gear. A couple of miles down the road the pedal became completely loose (no resistance) and it was impossible to change gear. I thought it must be the clutch cable had snapped but after researching online it looks like they stopped fitting clutch cables to the uno. Can anybody clarify this? Is it possible that my car is really a '94 but was registered in '95. And if it's not the clutch cable what else could it be? I realise I need to get a mechanic to look at it but just wondered if anybody here could give me an idea of cost etc.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks 1986 4 quick response. Is a slave cylinder a big job to replace? Costly?

No it's not a big job, a competent mechanic should be able to do it in less than an hour. Unbolt/ remove old slave cylinder, replace with new cylinder, bleed system and all should be ok.

No idea what it would cost as I never use a garage to do work ;)

Hmm now morten's Uno springs to mind!

UK 1.1 / 1.0l unos have a hydraulic clutch after about Jan 93, maybe earlier.

Some other markets retained the cable.

not sure if the Start was a UK only model of Uno:). My Uno start has a hydraulic setup.

where are you from rhiorns? you may live near one of us ;)
