Hello Peeps

I'm Having problems with the clutch on my Doblo cargo 1.9D - It feels really slack half way down the travel on it, the clutch is only a year old, and has done about 12k miles. It used to be firm as soon as you put your foot down on it and thus the gears where no problem to get in, but now its a problem to get in gear especialy reverse where it always crunches bad! I'm going to wreck the gear box soon if I dont find out what the problem is and sort it out. I have checked the fluid level which I think is the brake reservior, and it is well in between the lines - any one got any clues as to what is going on with it?

Thanks in Advance! :D

Maybe the clutch release fork is worn. I tend to replace these with the clutch on many Fiats now! The firmness of the pedal could be an hydraulic issue (Master/slave cylinder) or it could just be that you have worn another clutch out?

Did you use a decent clutch kit last time?

Not sure which clutch kit was used as previous owner had it done just before I bought it a year ago..

clutch should'nt be worn out after 12k should it? - I am thinking a hydraulic problem myself, but I am no mechanic.

my 2005 doblo used to grate and graunch onto reverse every time when my dual mass flywheel was shot!, maybe the previous owner had the clutch done and left the dual mass as it was an its gone??

I reckon it's the plastic linkage from the pedal. They can distort or break very easily and give the impression of air in the system or a knackered clutch.
This would be the first thing to check anyway as it's the cheapest and easiest to replace.

Thanks for your reply, gonna check this out today, but if it where the plastic linkage would'nt that completly disable the clutch, cause it does open a little bit, and some days it's worse than others, also it tends to be really bad after I have had my foot ot it for a while e.g wiating at junction or reversing..

You're probably right but I've seen other threads where the owner thought the clutch had gone and it turned out to be the linkage.
Tried a search and came up with some interesting stuff...

Right, been to Mr Clutch a week ago, and they had a look, checked for any leaks - none where found, then they bled the clutch fluid and hey presto clutch was back to normal (Air in clutch fluid) - They told me that the clutch pedal cylinder might need replacing, but to carry on driving and see how it goes.

It was fine for about 5 days and now the problem is back and even worse as struggling to get all the gears in now except 5th.

Anyways, I just got back from Mr Clutch now, they checked for any leaks again and again none where found, and so they said they are "90% sure that it is the clutch pedal cylinder that is playing up", and so its going in on Friday to have it replaced at £125.

Will report back once I know more :D

I had both master and slave cylinders replaced under warranty. On both my Doblos.

Now had gearbox reconditioned twice on the JTD model. Not under warranty :(

before engaging reverse , try to engage gear 1 or gear 3, then engage reverse.
it solved the reverse crunch problem
