Technical clutch click! arrgh!

Overnight my car has developed an incredibly annoying noise. When i release the clutch it now clicks at the very top as i take my foot off. I have looked at the spring underneath and it seems ok. Was just wondering if anyone knew what this could be? Its driving me mad and giving me a phobia of changing gear!

yeah thats what it sounds like to me. its right at the top of the travel - the last cm probably. do you think something just needs greasing?

lubrication is the first course of action, failing that replace the plastic 'seat'.

mine did that for a few hours one day and i couldnt find a problem with it but it fixed itself

Get your head in the footwell and push the clutch with the engine off and see if you can hear it...

yes it still clicks with the engine off

Its the plastic seat (done loads) you can see the spring jump slightly. Its not serious or anything so no need to worry.

Replace it, I cant imagine it being that expensive

just been out with a can of wd40 and sorted it! the noise was coming from the top of a kind of gas strut (not sure if thats the right term but the bit that goes back through the floor to the clutch). oiled it and it clicks no more. cheers guys

Do you have the heaters on towards the floor... cause the could cause the dryness.

yes thats correct, long term you will need to use white spray grease (or similar)
