Clutch Adjustment

Hi guys, I just bought my first car, a 1.2 bravo,(orange, 61k miles chavvy exhaust and wheels, £850) and i've found the biting point on the clutch is right at the top of the pedal travel. I've seen on here abut it being auto adjusting but i'm not sure if mine is or not. Do i need a new clutch or can i just adjust it myself?

Thanks.

what year? as far as i know there not cable driven.Have you checked your slave cylinder for the fluid level might need topping up.Or also your master cylinder?

Its a 1999. I haven't checked anything on it no. Is it easy to check? Not too sure what I'm doing in all honesty.

Master cylinder is to the right of your engine,it also shares the brake system aswell :)

*The slave cylinder just basically makes the clutch work,if its seazed or has a split in it you'll have no clutch, its where the fluid goes as it goes to different system to the brakes*

but saying that, you say your biting point is too high, clutch may be on its way out.

I'm just going to check the slave cylinder now. The clutch bites fine, just much too high. I hope its cheap whatever it is...

the slave cylinder is on top of the box mate, under the battery.need to take the try off to get to it.Only way to check if that is leaking is if you box is wet.

Just check your master cylinder.

*trying to get a pic for ya

The cylinder is fine, which means the clutch probs needs replacing. I'm getting the cam belt done in a week or so, so i'll get them to look at the clutch too. Thanks for your help anyway :)

cool,so if you got plenty of fluid in the res then it could be your clutch is on its way out being that high up.

Ddoes it slip at all when changing gear? i.e not letting go once u have selected gear.

It seems to slip when cold but i took it round the block and felt alright. But the only other car i've driven is a '92 pug so i probably dont know any different. We got right at the cylinder and nothing came out of it, even when i was pressing the clutch so that is ok.

be your clutch if its slipping, even when cold it shouldnt slip.Think with a new one you should be 'rite :)
