Well I think mine is playing up a bit. Basically what happend is I went through a phase of only hitting boost at 2k until hot. I was advised to unplug the Maf sensor, I tried but couldnt get the bloody thing off. so after a lot of groping I put it back in the hole. It then worked like magic and I hit boost at 1500 whether hot or cold. Great.

Now its doing the same thing again, so I took it out, groped it a bit, sprayed with some carb cleaner and ...... Nothing, still only hits boost at 2k.

Is it ok to drench them in carb cleaner? Is it just a resistor or is there more inside the plastic?

HELP!

(oh and how much is a new one?)

This link should help you out on cleaning it m8.. (y)

Thanks man! You can bet it helped me.
Now my Punto reloaded again its power! With the exception that I replaced the sensor, didn't bother cleaning it - I found it for 60 Euro - by HOFFER.

Just cleaned the MAF on my bravo 105 JTD, can't believe the change in performance it's incredible!

Thanks for the cleaning guide.

sorry for hijaking but would the same tape cleaner be used to clean a map sensor, i used carbcleaner with no luck:(

I know it's a few years ago now but the link does not work any more..
I need to / want to clean out my MAF sensor but I don't know where to start or where to look... lol

Do you actually have a MAF?

I am assuming your car has a a MAP which is a small plastic pressure sensor bolted to the side of the inlet manifold. The MAF is a much larger device which all of the air going through the inlet manifold has to pass through.

That's the one.. any diagrams ? ;-)

Hi,

The following link is for location and replacing your MAP sensor.

To add, you can inspect your own MAP sensor to see if you need to just give it a clean.

Also, if you have a multimeter you can do a check at the pin locations, to see if you're

getting the proper voltage and ohms readings at the appropiate pins.

Hope this helps you out.

John.

Nice one mate

It don't show how to clean it though.. and is this car a punto?
I have a bravo 1.9 multyjet sport 150.. so where would the location be on my engine??

Hi,
On the 1.9 16V it's on the back of the engine, on the inlet manifold, LH side. Looks the same as the Punto one and held in by a single screw. The screw has a RIBE head but can be undone with a Torx or even hex bit at a pinch. To clean use carb / brake cleaner or similar. Hold it with the inlet down while cleaning so you don't flood the inside or drive the dirt further in. There is a little temperature sensor inside the inlet so don't go poking into it as you will damage it. Just solvent and maybe a soft brush.

Robert G8RPI.
