hey everyone

i paid 40 notes for my panda 1000cl and i want to make it sound a bit louder. i've already done some budget mods like using black tights to tint my lights lol. to get the noise i was considering drilling the airbox.

would this do any damage??

because i've grown to love this car and don't want to f**k it up. and hartwell qouted me around 200 for a new one so not cheap in my eyes lol

any help would be greatly appreciated

You could try running it without the front half of the filter box fitted. You would, once again, lose the warm air feed, but you wouldn't damage anything and it does sound good. You would lose the filter element, but then if you drilled holes the air would bypass it anyway. Maybe the answer is to lose the front half of the filter box, then put some black tights across the front. 15 denier should give you good air flow with some filtration ;):p.

Well i would drill it on the pre-filter side obviously. It's a G reg. and it's blue, not sure what shade. i'll put some pics up later. cheers for your replies fellas(y)

Look forward to seeing the pics (y).

Can you explain what drilling holes in the filter box before the filter does as I've not heard of this before .

That will only work if you drill the holes on the carb side of the filter element, if the air still has to pass through the element after coming in through the drilled holes it will make little or no difference to the sound. (n)

I'm afraid that if you want more induction roar there is a price to pay in filtration. Everythings a compromise ;).

first thing to try if you want a bit more noise if you haven't already is to pull the long rubber pipe off the cold air intake and run that hole open. leaves everything easily reversible and doesn't muck up your cold starts. Has much the same effect (or lack of) as drilling, that tube does muffle the intake quite a bit.
