anyone been down the classic insurance route?.we have bought a 1996 punto cabrio which we intend to use as a second car (we both have other cars) seems come companies regard cars over 10 years old as classic.just wondering if you can do this without transfering the no claims from our other cars or if there is any companies that will mirror the no claims.or indeed if there is another route we can try.any info would be appreciated

In general you need to have another car insured in your name, need to accept a limited annual mileage on the classic and won't get any no claims bonus on the classic. There may be some companies that don't require all of those conditions. get a copy of Classic and Sports Car, there are dozens of specialist insurer ads in the back pages.

I pay £50 a year fully comp, agreed value with 6,000 miles limit for my classic. Plus i get a reduction on the Fiat insurance because I have another car registered in my name.

Footman James for the classic. The modern is with a different company.
