Dudes,

Titch, the Younger Mrs S.' Cinquecento needs a spot of welding on the chassis rail.. there's a mud trap between the chassis and the front bracket of the axle/sub-frame, just behind where the two are bolted together (where the gap between them reduces).

I have a "new" sub-frame (the original rusted downwards at the same time as the chassis rail was rusting upwards.. but I'll need to repair the hole in the chassis.

The hole is half the size of a matchbox, so newspaper and filler is probably out of the question... :D I'm going to MIG weld in (gas-less) a piece of galvanised sheet steel instead.

Regular metal is 0.6mm but the chassis metal seems a bit thicker. Does anyone know what gauge it it? I'm guessing it might be 0.9mm .. Obviously a bit of metal that's thicker than original won't matter much.. and might be easier to weld.. but it's handy to know what thickness it is.
